For whom it is suitable
Typically, practitioners require five years management experience (three of which should be in HR) to meet the various evidence requirements. Additionally, because the Electives and People Management and Development are orientated towards strategic HR management, the experience should be at a senior level. Specialists with at least three years experience in a particular area of HR may be able to cover part of the syllabus through this method in conjunction with a flexible learning route for the remainder of the syllabus. We will be able to advise you on your best choice of route.
What Our Customers Say
Pam Riley: PAC Route
I worked closely with a Malpas Advisor to complete modules to get both Graduate and Member Status of the CIPD at the same time. The work involved collating a variety of work based evidence to create Portfolios for independent assessment by the CIPD. The advisors were there every step of the way to ensure that I was on the right tracks, and that the evidence collected whether by emails, policies, and presentations was relevant, accurate and sound for assessment purposes. Although the entire programme took me around 18 months to complete, it was a very rewarding experience. It was great to formally substainate and verify that my work was reaching the required 'best practice' standards of the Institute and that indeed that I was professionally contributing to my Company by working to these standards. Overall I chose Malpas because the flexibility and professionalism of the support I received. The advisors were always on hand to offer sound guidance and coach you through the difficult times of which there can be many if you are juggling work and study.
Kirsty Graham, John Lewis: PAC Route
As a working mother of two young children I did not feel that I could take the normal route and study for my CIPD at night school, so PAC seemed the perfect option- study in my own time; and more importantly at my own pace! At times the PAC route is lonely, and it can be hard to motivate yourself, but it was worth it, and I do not regret taking this route for one moment.I found the PAC route quite straight forward, as in essence once you realise that all you need to do is collate work you have already done in the required format, the job is done. From beginning to end, I probably spent about 18 months studying, but it was at my pace, which was frantic, at times and rather sluggish as others. The support from the administrative team was excellent, I was always informed on where my work was in the assessment process, and received feedback. I found the tutorials were extremely useful, but I had to make them my meeting and plan ahead what I wanted to achieve and ensure that I used the time wisely.
