The greatest benefit of the Certificate in Training Practice (CTP) programme is that it forces students to abandon preconceptions, bad habits and muddled thinking. Refreshingly, it replaces all the old baggage with answers and structures for planning, delivering and evaluating training. Robin Callendar-Smith, Greater London Magistrates Court Authority: In-house CTP Programme I attended the Certificate in Training Practice in Greenhithe in May/July last year and eventually completed my assignments in January this year. I have since received my certificate, so I am very happy. The support I received was excellent throughout. Phone calls were always dealt with professionally, staff were friendly, and courteous, and phone calls were always returned when promised. E-mail contact was also responded to promptly. The tutor was brilliant and a real pro. He created an informal, relaxed environment in which to learn, and his sessions were always interesting. We were a lively group, and whilst he was happy to let us run with it where it was creative and/or constructive, he was also quick to rein us in when necessary! The tutors training methods were varied and always hit the mark, and I am sure that I learnt as much from watching him operate as I did from the course content itself. I found nothing at all to fault, and wouldnt hesitate to recommend BPP to anyone." Martine Bolton, Skandia Life Assurance: CTP This course will benefit us and our colleagues as we are now able to develop and move onto the next level in our careers. We feel that we have more knowledge and understanding in the areas that we covered, and this has given us more self confidence to actually deal with individuals in the workplace. Karen Aldred & Dawn Hewett, AXA PPP Healthcare: In-house CPP Programme Both materials and delivery were at the top end of my experience of training and learning processes. Tony Brown, Colour Care International Ltd: CPP Programme I found that studying through BPP enabled me to complete the CIPD qualification in a way that fitted in with my work and my home life commitments. Polly Isaac, NatWest Bank Plc: Professional Development Scheme BPP was recommended by several of my colleagues who had already studied with them. The flexible learning approach allowed me to minimise my time away from the office, and the support provided by tutors and fellow students really helped. Ann Hewins, HM Land Registry: Core Management BPP makes the goal ahead more achievable, treating you as an individual and answering questions in a friendly and reassuring manner. BPP will always be my first choice! Susan Taylor, Dial Net Plc: HR Electives I have learned a lot with BPP, and gained valuable experience in the meantime with a large multinational organisation. I enjoyed our workshops, my tutors and the company of fellow students. The workshops were of a high quality, the tutors treated us with respect, and the atmosphere created was conducive to learning. I would like to express my appreciation for your help and support, hard work, and for sharing with us your knowledge and experience. As we say in Russian, thank you for giving us a piece of your great souls and hearts.
Lazat Saparova: HR Electives I had not studied flexibly before and therefore I was surprised how well it suits my lifestyle. Flexible learning basically shifts the emphasis from the lecturer giving you the information, to you taking the responsibility for teaching yourself through written guidance, and then having the workshops to bounce ideas off the other delegates and seek clarification and advice from the tutor. Having workbooks and text books to hand has meant that all information is to hand, and I did not have to rely on the tutors to point me in the right direction - which had been my previous experience at degree level as the expectations were not clear. The tutors have been excellent, both with backgrounds that command respect. I have the BPP materials very helpful, and the assignment marking criteria is very clear and comprehensive. I would say that I have been doing more than 10 hours a week on the course, and perhaps the CIPD work files and text books are too much to expect a student who is working full time to complete, but this has meant that the quality and quantity of my knowledge has been improved. I found my studies to be challenging, but highly worthwhile, and I would certainly recommend BPP to other HR colleagues. Kate Martin, HR Assistant, Lovewell Blake: People Resourcing and Learning and Development Electives For me, Employment Law was the most interesting and challenging elective. The workbooks (BPP) were easy to read and cover employment law in depth. BPP provide excellent Employment Law Updates which are particularly useful for the assignment and exam. Nina Gandhi, The British Museum Library: Employment Law Elective I thoroughly enjoyed taking the Training and Development electives and have learnt a lot from the course. Having a good group to work with and learn from also helps, and by developing an "online community" with fellow students, it allows you to study and float ideas, even when you are all in different parts of the country. The tutor was excellent and encouraged us to learn and develop, as well as being there for us when we lost our way or needed motivating. I am happy to recommend your courses to my colleges for the future. Martin Wasley, Hinkley Point B Power Station: DTD (Trainer Electives) I found the level of support from BPP was excellent. I would have no hesitation in recommending BPP to anyone who wishes to study for the CIPD. Christine Tebbutt, Wates Leisure: People Management and Development & Applied Personnel and Development I am delighted that I decided that I decided to stick to the process. BPP was invaluable in giving me the encouragement I needed. I feel that I met my goals of ensuring my knowledge is relevant to this market, and learned a lot in the process. Cathy Doyle, Sweet & Maxwell Group: PAC Route 'There are considerable benefits to distance learning, not least of which is the flexibility it offers the student. The quality of the BPP BIFM workbooks and the support network offered by BPP make distance learning even more attractive in the current hectic business climate. Sometimes though there is a need for interaction with other students and tutors and the BPP Revision Workshops fulfill this need. Depending on where you are in the exam programme, the workshops offer the chance to learn exam techniques; to help you focus on critical areas; to reassure you that you are on track, boosting your confidence; to plan for the dreaded day; or just simply to share experiences with other students facing the same concerns. Wherever you are in the BIFM exam route, you should consider making the Revision Workshop an essential part of your success.' Paul White, Project Manager, RAF Henlow "I really enjoy attending the tutorials for the open discussions we have, learning to see things from someone else's perspective and learning about other sectors. The constant support and communication via e-mails from the support and admin team and on line tutorial notes is great. The ability to send in and receive feedback on past exam papers throughout the programme increases the support and learning process which BPP provide. Knowing that I have such a great support system around me encourages me to use the tools and help available to achieve the best that I can. Deciding to study for the BIFM (Qual) requires determination and a thorough investigation of who to study with. Location, past performance, flexibility to suit my time available and calibre of the tutors were all factors that influenced my decision to enrol with BPP. I have recommended BPP to a number of colleagues, to help them advance their careers, as I am really enjoying the programme. Achieving the Student Winner of the Year has given me the confidence to move on and seek a more responsible job in FM, knowing that I have the support of a network of tutors and fellow students to help face new challenges." Alison East, Facilities Manager, Genworth Financial: Joint winner of 2004 BIFM student of the Year Award
